TOP FIVE LONGEST RUNNING ANIME SERIES

I started blogging since 2007 but did you know that this blog was actually intended to be an Anime Related Site? Yup! So do not be surprised to see a lot of anime-related entries here haha. And here's another trivia, this Top Five Entry below was my very first blog entry ever! I decided to post it again. Well, there are few changes here; Sazae-san remained indisputable in our top spot while others remained strong defending their respective places.

TOP 5 LONGEST RUNNING ANIME SERIES
"CRAYON SHIN CHAN"

Crayon Shin-chan follows the adventures of five-year-old Shinnosuke "Shin" Nohara and his parents, baby sister, neighbors, and friends and is set in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. During the beginning of the series, the TV show was mostly based on the storyline in the original manga. As the show progressed, more and more episodes became anime-original. The show works under a sliding timescale where the characters have maintained their ages throughout the course of the show.
Crayon Shin-chan has 722 episodes and counting. Due to the death of author Usui, the manga in its current form ended on September 11, 2009, as announced in a broadcast of the anime on October 16, 2009. The series formally ended on February 5, 2010, but on December 1, 2009, it was announced that a new manga would be published in the summer of 2010 by members of Usui's team.

TOP 4 LONGEST RUNNING ANIME SERIES
"CHIBI MARUKO CHAN"

I think she's the Japanese Version of Dora the Explorer LOL. Well, Chibi Maruko-chan depicts the simple, everyday life of a little girl nicknamed Maruko and her family in suburban mid-seventies Japan. The series is set in the former city of Shimizu, now part of Shizuoka City, birthplace of its author. The Chibi Maruko-chan series has spawned numerous games, animated films and merchandising, as well as a second TV series running from 1995 to the present. Maruko's style and themes are sometimes compared to the classic comic Sazae-san.
Chibi Maruko-Chan has 793 episodes and counting.

"NINTAMA RANTARO"
Nintama Rantarō is a Japanese anime series based on Sōbē Amako's manga Rakudai Ninja Rantarō.
It is aimed at young children, featuring the adventures of Rantarō and his friends and teachers at Ninja school. The fact that glasses are worn by one of the main characters is intentionally anachronistic. The manga references other Japanese media personalities such as Ken Shimura.
The series has 1483 episodes and counting.

TOP 2 LONGEST RUNNING ANIME SERIES
"DORAEMON"
Our beloved Doraemon made it to the second spot. The series is about an earless robotic cat named Doraemon, who travels back in time from the 22nd century to aid a schoolboy, Nobita Nobi. A majority of Doraemon episodes are comedies with lessons regarding values such as integrity, perseverance, courage, family and respect for elders. Several noteworthy environmental issues are often visited, including homeless animals, global warming, endangered species, deforestation, and pollution. Miscellaneous educational topics such as dinosaurs, the flat Earth theory, wormhole traveling, Gulliver's Travels, and the history of Japan are often covered. Currently the series has 2189 episodes and counting.

THE LONGEST RUNNING ANIME SERIES
"SAZAE-SAN"

Sazae was a very "liberated" woman, and many of the early plotlines revolved around Sazae bossing around her husband, to the consternation of her neighbors, who believed that a man should be the head of his household. Later, Sazae became a feminist and was involved in many comical situations regarding her affiliation with her local women's lib group. Today, the popular Sazae-san anime is frequently taken as nostalgia for traditional Japanese society (since it lacks modern marvels such as video games and otaku culture), even though it was leftist to the point of controversy when it originally ran in Japanese newspapers.
The series amazingly reached 6429 episodes and the anime is still running. Well obviously, that makes Sazae-san unbeatable.
