Sorry for creeping you out this late evening but lemme warn you first that this entry may contain explicit, offensive and gore images. Have you ever played any Survival Horror Game? Then what is your most favorite and why? Survival Horror games was first introduced in 1996 through the iconic game "Resident Evil." Well, these games usually challenge the player to manage their inventory and ration scarce resources such as ammunition. Another major theme throughout the genre is that of isolation. Typically, these games contain relatively few non-player characters and, as a result, frequently tell much of their story second-hand through the use of journals, texts, or audio logs. After Resident Evil, series of games have been developed which is almost patterned to this kind of genre.
So what are the games that became notable for this kind of genre and which of them is considered as the scariest? Listed below are the

TOP FIVE SCARIEST SURVIVAL HORROR GAMES

TOP 5 SCARIEST SURVIVAL HORROR GAME
"LEFT 4 DEAD"

Left 4 Dead is like a much improved version of the "House of The Dead" PC game. It was developed by Turtle Rock Studios, which was purchased by Valve Corporation during development. The game uses Valve's proprietary Source engine, and is available for Windows, Xbox 360 and Mac OS X. Set during the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, the game pits its four protagonists—dubbed the "Survivors"—against hordes of the infected. There are four game modes: a single-player mode in which allied characters are controlled by AI; a four-player, co-op campaign mode; an eight-player online versus mode; and a four-player survival mode.
Well, I played this game several times already and it is actually more about tactics and strategy and how you can manage to survive the night against an endless horde of ghouls. What makes it scary is the fact that you do not have any idea where exactly the zombies will appear. They can jump, strangle, vomit, and even throw cars. Though there is a mode here where you can play the role of the zombies.

"F.E.A.R"

F.E.A.R. (short for First Encounter Assault Recon) is a horror-themed first-person shooter developed by Monolith Productions and published by Vivendi Universal. It was released on October 17, 2005, for Windows, and ported by Day 1 Studios to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
The game's story revolves around a supernatural phenomenon, which F.E.A.R.—a fictional special forces team—is called to contain. The player assumes the role of F.E.A.R.'s Point Man, who possesses superhuman reflexes, and must uncover the secrets of a paranormal menace in the form of a little girl.
The picture above is the least Gore image i've found online (yikes if you just know how bloody those other images are). Anyway, i like the storyline of this game and that's what really matters to me when it comes to horror games. I am desperately want to beat Alma here!

TOP 3 SCARIEST SURVIVAL HORROR GAME
"FATAL FRAME"

One of the most creative gameplay ever. If you are a big fan of Japanese and Taiwanese horror movies, then Fatal Frame is the perfect game for you. Fatal Frame, known as Project Zero in Europe and Australia, and as Zero Zero in Japan, is a survival horror video game series, so far consisting of four games and a spin-off. The first and second games in the series were released for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, the third game is only available for the PlayStation 2, and the fourth game has been released exclusively for the Wii. The series' plot deals with ghosts, exorcism, and dark Shinto rituals.
Fatal Frame is one of the most well received survival horror games to date. It was a unique entry in the genre, as the player explores a mansion and takes photographs of ghosts in order to defeat them. he Fatal Frame series has since gained a reputation as one of the most distinctive in the genre, with the first game in the series credited as one of the best-written survival horror games ever made, by UGO Networks. Actually, i haven't tried the game and i will not dare try it. My friends told me that this game giving them nightmares.. Errr.. I'm not afraid to blood-thirsty zombies but i am so afraid to ghosts.Weird.

TOP 2 SCARIEST SURVIVAL HORROR GAME
"RESIDENT EVIL"

The game that started it all. Imagine yourself being trapped in a city dominated by flesh-eating zombies. What will you do? The franchise initiated in 1996 with the first installment in its video game series, which has been created by Shinji Mikami and is the most commercially successful survival horror series, having sold almost 45 million units as of December 2010. Using horror elements, puzzle solving, and a lot of action, most of the games in the Linkmain Resident Evil series have been released to positive reviews. Many of the games, most notably Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, have been bestowed with multiple Game of the Year honors and frequently placed on lists of the best games ever made.
I am a super big fan of RE games and personally, my favorite version would be Resident Evil 2. I can name you all the characters in the game if you want haha. In 2005, Resident Evil 4 attempted to redefine the genre by emphasizing reflexes and precision aiming, thus broadening the gameplay of the series with elements from the wider action genre. Well, as for me, i think latest versions of this game already abandoned the survival horror genre,by demolishing the genre conventions that it had established.

THE SCARIEST SURVIVAL HORROR GAME
"SILENT HILL"

LinkIt's true that Resident Evil started it all but Silent Hill did a tremendous job for creeping out the gamers. Silent Hill is a series of survival horror video games consisting of seven installments published by Konami Digital Entertainment. The games' player characters are "everymen" traversing through Silent Hill, a fictional American town which exists in a multiverse, and the storylines unravel a psychological repression regarding the cast of characters along with the history regarding the town. Silent Hill is a small town situated around the edge of Toluca Lake and a large forest, with the older sections of town located to the north and along the banks of the adjacent river. Due in part to heavy commercial development, the town is fairly self-sufficient; it has an elementary school, a shopping mall, a church, two separate hospitals, a sanitarium and other stores and attractions. Silent Hill manifests itself in at least three distinct parallel layers, or dimensions: a normal, populated town; a quiet, seemingly abandoned town veiled by supernaturally thick fog; and a dark and decaying town (called the "Otherworld") filled with disturbing, hellish imagery. Only the latter two layers are explored by the games' protagonists, where demonic and disfigured creatures roam the streets and buildings (appearing in greater numbers in the Otherworld). The Silent Hill franchise has been universally praised for its graphics, atmosphere and story.
I guess what makes this game scary is the Silence atmosphere Linkitself. Not to mention the foggy town in which you do not know what's hiding behind those mist. And of course, who could forget their lovely nurses hahaha.

Okay, if you made it up to this far, then i must salute your braveness. Cheers!
A creepy Friday Evening guys!
