BLOG IDOL ROUND 4 : MOTOWN WEEK

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEuEFgz12p6aLuvfQCla8pWd6T13YB8gfeh80FGie1sstuz5E8RMSeU_gm5P4OZSglwV9dkSgHprbffTPqtZtYQIueryUzQP354UUBtzbqyHCAxa0RJfBrqF9N0do86MGSszkySl_k_p0/s1600/BlogIdol.png

Yay! The Heat Is on for our Quarter Finals which begins Today!
I'm not really sure if all of you guys are familiar with theme that we have for this week but this is really special to me since I grew up listening in such kind of music.
Motown played an important role in the racial integration of popular music, as it was the first record label owned by an African American to primarily feature African-American artists who achieved crossover success. In the 1960s, Motown and its soul-based subsidiaries were the most successful proponents of what came to be known as The Motown Sound, a style of soul music with a distinct pop influence.
Now let's hear the soulful entries from our finalists
*****************************************
1. Mona Abayle picked a classic signature hit from Stevie Wonders and was also one of his first singles. Here's a 1970 hit song,
"SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED, I"M YOURS"

*****************************************
2. Xan Gerna submitted an original Bobby McFerrin song which has a mixed touch of both reggae and soul. Here's an Award winning song,
"DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY"

*****************************************
3. Genny chose a classic Jackson 5 song and one of the most successful Motown singles during the so called "Detroit Era". It was later covered by Mariah Carey in the early 90's
"I'LL BE THERE"

*****************************************
4. Mai Yang picked another chart topper hit from the Jackson 5. It is also included in one of their first singles released by Motown along with ABC, The Love you Save and I'll be There. Here's
"I WANT YOU BACK"

*****************************************
5. Tom Sower submitted one of the most famous Duets of all time featuring two of Motown's biggest stars Diana Ross and Lionel Richie.
"ENDLESS LOVE"

*****************************************
6. April Tarongoy chose a signature chart topper song from one of the Motown Legends, The Temptation. Here's
"MY GIRL"

TOP FIVE BEST GLEE COVERS

We're just counting hours before the much awaited Glee Season 3 and I'm really really excited for it. There are so many things to expect this season including the appearance of The Glee Project winners Damain and Samuel. Both Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth will reprise their roles as Shelby Carcoran and April Rhodes. They said that there will be lesser song numbers and guest performers in this season because they will focus more on the story.
As an avid Glee fan, I listed below five of my favorite covers from the show. Again, this are my personal picks and the entry is not done subjectively.

TOP FIVE BEST GLEE COVERS

"TOP 5 BEST GLEE COVER"
"LIKE A PRAYER"

Like a Prayer is a song featured in the season one tribute episode The Power of Madonna. It's sung at the end of the episode by New Directions. It's originally sung by Madonna on her fourth studio album Like a Prayer. Rachel sings the opening lines. Finn, Kurt, Mercedes, and Jesse also have solos, although Jesse is only featured in the album version. Amber Riley's mother makes an appearance with her church choir for the performance (Amber is seen dancing with her).

TOP 4 BEST GLEE COVER"
"LEAN ON ME"

Lean on Me is a song featured in the season one episode Ballad. It is sung by all of New Directions as a ballad dedicated to Finn and Quinn because of the baby drama. The song tells Finn and Quinn that the group will support them throughout the whole journey of Quinn's pregnancy. Mercedes and Artie both have solos in this song. This is the song used in the ads for Glee: The Music, Volume 2. (I like their version of "Imagine" too)

TOP 3 BEST GLEE COVER"
"I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND"

I Want to Hold Your Hand is a song that was featured in the season two episode Grilled Cheesus and is sung by Kurt Hummel. It was originally performed by The Beatles and was released as a single in 1963. Kurt sings this song to express his love for his dad, Burt Hummel, who is in a coma in the hospital after falling victim to a near-fatal heart attack During the song, the Glee club members are near to tears. I actually prefer this version than the Orginal Beatles. They change the song from being an Upbeat and happy song to a powerful Ballad.

TOP 2 BEST GLEE COVER"
"FOR GOOD"

For Good is a song featured in the season two finale New York. It was originally performed in the musical Wicked on Broadway by the characters Elphaba and Glinda, portrayed by Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth (the characters Shelby Corcoran and April Rhodes respectively). It's the second song Glee features from Wicked (the first being Defying Gravity in season one). Both songs are sung by Kurt and Rachel. Defying Gravity is one of my favorite songs from Wicked but "For Good" is what I love the most.

THE BEST GLEE COVER"
"DON'T STOP BELIEVIN'"

Even though I get tired of this song, I still believe that it deserves to be on the top spot. The song is originally sung by the popular band Journey from their 1981 album Escape. It was covered by the cast of the American television series Glee during the Pilot episode. It was the first single released from the soundtrack of the series, Glee: The Music, Volume 1 and was performed on the first episode of the season, Pilot. It was also the first song to be sung by New Directions as a performance in the the school auditorium, and it's the show's main song for season one, being sung four times (Pilot, Quinn's version, Haverbrook School for the Deaf, and Regionals). As a result, the original Don't Stop Believin has become Glee's most iconic cover and is recognizable around the world.

TOP BEST FIVE ANIME LOOK-ALIKES PART 3

Here comes another Anime Related Entry haha. I know most of you are not into anime so my apology for those who can't relate but hopefully you'll enjoy this list. This is actually my third entry for this category. The first one was posted last 2009 (HERE) and the second was posted last year April 2010 (Check it Here),. Now let's welcome a new batch of Anime Characters for this year. Here's my

TOP BEST FIVE ANIME LOOK-ALIKES

TOP 5 BEST ANIME LOOK ALIKE
"MOMIJI AND HONEY"

(OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB / FRUIT BASKET)
Photobucket

Mitsukini or simply known as Honey is a character from Ouran High School Host Club and is depicted as a childish and cake-loving boy who is much older than what his elementary school appearance would indicate. He is also a strong fighter who can send people flying with one kick. Honey is very fond of eating sweets and his room is full of stuffed animals. He was originally intended to have an extreme dual personality.
Momiji Sohma on the other hand is a member of the Sohma Family from the manga / anime, Fruit Basket. He is is depicted as a cute, cheerful, androgynous boy who hides a sad family life behind his sunny demeanor. He is the Rabbit of the Chinese Zodiac in case your familiar with the story. Momiji is insightful about others and emotionally strong.
Similarities? Well, they both have this golden hair with almost the same style. They're both cute and sharing the same color complexion. They both inherit something from their family, an obligation that both of them have to take care of.

TOP 4 BEST ANIME LOOK ALIKE
"SYAORAN AND SUZAKU KURURUGI"

(TSUBASA / CODE GEASS)
Photobucket
Syaoran's character was based on Syaoran Li, a character from Clamp's Cardcaptor Sakura manga. The character was adapted to Clamp's Tsubasa : Reservoir Chronicle. yaoran is introduced as young archeologist who is in love with Sakura, his childhood friend and the princess from the Kingdom of Clow. When Sakura's memories are scattered throughout parallel dimensions, Syaoran goes on a quest to recover them, giving all of Sakura's memories involving him as a payment to travel.
Meanwhile, Suzaku Kururugi is a character from anime series, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. Suzaku is Lelouch's childhood friend and son of Japan's last prime minister, Genbu Kururugi. He is aligned against Zero's Black Knights but nevertheless intent on changing the Britannian Empire for the better. He claims that achieving results by wrong or illegal methods is meaningless, wanting to change Britannia from within. Suzaku is an Honorary Britannian and part of the Britannian army, later becoming the pilot of the experimental Knightmare Frame Lancelot as a member of the R&D Division. In the second season, Suzaku is granted a position in the Knights of the Round by the Emperor for his capture of Zero.
Similarities, judging them by their background, I don't think they have something in common other than their appearances. Same complexion, body built, hair style, pointed chin, and their eyes are somehow the same except for it's color.

TOP 3 BEST ANIME LOOK ALIKE
"AKANE TENDO AND AMI MIZUNO (SAILOR MERCURY)"

(RANMA 1/2 / SAILORMOON)
Photobucket
Akane Tendo is the female protagonist of the anime Ranma 1/2. he is a very insecure, awkward and sensitive girl with a hot temper and a big heart. She first encountered Ranma's male form as a naked stranger in the bathroom, as she originally believed him to be a girl. Her family chose her to be engaged to him and carry on the Tendo family dojo. She is trying hard to excel in everything, but is either clumsy or completely inept at all except for schoolwork and certain sports activities, like volleyball.
Ami Mizuno is a genius schoolgirl who can transform into one of the series' specialized heroines, the Sailor Senshi. Sailor Mercury is the first member of the Sailor Senshi to be discovered by Sailor Moon, and serves as the "brains" of the group. Her powers are associated with phases of water, and she can use her supercomputer to quickly analyze a foe in battle. Her peers view her with a mixture of awe and distaste, misinterpreting her inherent shyness as snobbery, and so she tends to have a difficult time making new friends. Ami is depicted as sweet, gentle, and loyal, as well as slightly insecure.
Similarities: Well, both are insecure and sensitive and they both excel in class as well. Physically, both of them shares the same style of hair in exception to Akane's early appearances. Almost the same hair style, hair color, and height. They both have huge eyes and they're both classic anime characters.

TOP 2 BEST ANIME LOOK ALIKE
"NAMI AND ELIE"

(ONE PIECE / RAVE MASTER)
Photobucket
Nami is the crew's 20 year old navigator and thief from an anime series "One Piece" . She has the ability to recognize and analyze even the slightest changes in the weather. She is also an excellent pickpocket. Her dream is to draw a complete map of the world. She was named as the cat burglar of the group.
Elie on the other hand is from anime "Rave Master". Her real name is eal name is Resha Valentine. Elie is one very lively, bubbly, optimistic girl whose usual outfit is a tight fitting midriff top and a mini skirt. She has a hot temper, as shown when she destroyed a casino for a bet loss. Elie has an undying love for casinos and always drags the group to the casino when there is one
Nami and Elie shares a lot of similarities. Well, they both have this greedy attitude for money. Both of them are short tempered. They both wear tight fittings and mini skirt, same hair style and hair color, huge eyes, complexions are somehow the same too. By the way if you're looking for a "Nami and Lucy Heartfilia (from Fairy Tail), I don't think I can include it here knowing that the creator of One Piece is also the people behind Fairy Tail.

THE BEST ANIME LOOK ALIKE
"SHIRLEY FENNETE AND ORIHIME INOUE)"

(CODE GEASS / BLEACH)
Photobucket
Shirley Fenette is a friendly girl and is a member of the swimming club. She admits to being infatuated with Lelouch since his enrollment on campus, but finds it extremely hard to get his attention. She's actually one of my favorite characters from the story however she was killed in the second season of the series.
Orihime is busty, friendly, humorous, sensitive, and kind. She comes off as naïve and rather clueless, which is at odds with her exceptionally high marks in school. Her cooking style can be described as very bad and disgusting. Orihime has a tendency to rush into situations without thinking, sometimes leading to embarrassing or even dangerous consequences.
Both of them shares this friendly attitude which somehow provides the comic relief in the series. They both fell in love with the main protagonist but decided to keep it at first. Physically, they both have this long orange hair, both of them wearing school uniform, probably same height, body built, and huge eyes.
