Walking With Dinosaurs is a 2013 3D  movie that follows a story of a dinosaur named Patchi who hatched among a herd of Pachyrhinosaurus. Patchi's runt status means he must use his wits rather than strength to compete for food with his larger brothers and sisters, particularly Scowler. After a terrible fire leaves Patchi, Scowler, and a female named Juniper on their own, the rivalry between the brothers escalates to a dangerous level. Patchi must summon his inner courage and strength to become the leader he was born to be.

Ice Age is a series of animated films that follows a story of a group of mammals trying to survive the Paleolithic ice age. Although the  film focuses on mammals like Mammoths, prehistoric sloth and tigers, the group will have numerous encounter with different dinosaurs. There are currently four films under the Ice Age franchise and one currently in development. Not to mention the short films and television specials.

Dinosaur is 2000 is a 3D live-action/computer-animated science fiction adventure film by Disney that revolves around the story of Aladar (D.B. Sweeney), an iguanodon dinosaur raised by a family of lemurs. Their world is turned upside-down however, when meteors strike, turning their green world into a desert wasteland. Teaming up with a herd of other herbivores, the trek is on to find the "Nesting Ground" where water and vegetation is bountiful but they will encounter challenges along the way. The film was a financial success, grossing over $349 million worldwide in total box office revenue, becoming the fifth highest-grossing film of 2000. The film received mixed to positive reviews at the time of its release, with critics praising the visuals, but criticizing the writing, plot and characterization.

"THE LAND BEFORE TIME"

For those who grew up in late 80's or up to early 2000s should be aware what The Land Before Time is. It is a huge dinosaur animated franchise that expanded to twelve direct-to-video musical sequels. The films follow a friendship of a group of young dinosaurs, by the names of Littlefoot (Apatosaurus), Cera (Triceratops), Petrie (Pteranodon), Ducky (Saurolophus), and Spike (Stegosaurus). After finding The Great Valley, they raise a carnivourous baby, survive a drought, a cold snap, and witness a solar eclipse. Throughout all films, they embark upon adventures, learning lessons about life and friendship along the way.

It initially follows a story of a group of paleontologists who just had a tour to an island theme park populated by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA.  The terror begins when a ferocious predators managed to break free! Jurassic Park is considered by many to be one of the greatest films of all time, as well as a landmark in the development of computer-generated imagery and animatronic visual effects.

One reason behind MCU's success is when they managed to get the right formula for their movie and that is by perfectly blending  the action with humor. "WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE ~ CAPTAIN AMERICA"

If there is one guy in Avengers who can monitor the way you speak or communicate and correct you if you say something bad or wrong, that would be Captain America. As the leader of his team, it's not really surprising seeing him paying attention to his member's language. It was just fun joke about language at the start of the film where Captain America telling Iron Man to watch his language but the fact that it persisted through the entire film made it great! It is even more hilarious when every one else on the team poked fun about him even Nick Furry!

"NO ONE WOULD KNOW ~ HAWKEYE"

We all know that Hawkeye plays a very crucial role in Avengers : Age of Ultron compare to what he had on the first film. He had so many great moments in this film that made us love his witty character even more not to mention his surprising revelation about his personal life. One of the funniest scenes in the movie was Hawkeye and Quicksilver trying to one up each other. There was a scene where Hawkeye playfully said (while pointing his arrow to Quicksilver) "I could shoot him right now and no one would know. If they miss him and ask, I would just say, oh, last time I saw him, Ultron was sitting on him"

"BOOM, ARE YOU LOOKING FOR THIS? ~ JAMES RHODES"

There are two funny James Rhodes scenes I like on this film and they were both hilarious. First is when he attended the party and telling some of his extreme adventures to Tony Stark and Thor and ending it up with "Boom are you looking for this", hoping to get some cool response from the two instead, what he got is an awkward silence. He tell the same thing with other guess and they all laugh...maybe the joke was not really effective for the superheroes. Another funny scene from him is when he finally got his part during the Ultron fight. Some of Ultron's robots attempted to escape but before he show off his great skills and impress others, Vision swept them off in no time and all he can say is.. "Now what?" (disappointed)

"I'M SORRY ~ IRON MAN TO HULK"

Hulk vs the Hulkbuster is probably one the greatest scenes in the movie but it is also one of the funniest at some point especially when Iron man is trying to tame down the raging hulk by punching him repeatedly and taking advantage of his position why saying “Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep”, hoping that would this would tame the Hulk down. What makes it hilarious is when the Hulk loses a tooth and Iron Man gently say "I'm Sorry" and that moment was just priceless.

"HAMMER LIFT SCENE"

Nothing can be funnier than the Hammer Lift scene where Thor dared everyone to lift his hammer and see if they are truly worthy. From Hawekeye, to Bruce Banner, to Iron Man and to Captain America, they all tried their best but the moment Captain America attempted to lift the hammer and it barely moves, Thor's reaction was just priceless. The hammer thing brought another hilarious scene when Vision was able to lift it effortlessly and Thor was seemingly speechless about it. Another thing is during the last part of the movie when Captain America and Tony Stark argued if the hammer can be lifted by the elevator!

Okay, so we just had a Chucky movie marathon so I can finally judge which Chucky movie is the best based on my personal opinion. Child's Play is basically a horror film franchise created by Don Mancini. So far, there are six slasher films were made and another one in development. Chucky has become one of the most iconic horror movie characters lining his popularity along with others like Freddie Krueger, Jason Voorhees and more. Now, allow me to list down the Top Five Best Chucky Movies (from worst to best).

TOP 5 BEST CHUCKY FILM

"SEED OF CHUCKY"

 Seed of Chucky turned the slasher film into a horror comedy. The plot wasn't really engaging but if you are looking for brutal death scenes, this film will spare you some of the franchise' bests. The event in this movie took place six years after the Bride of Chucky where Glen, the son of Tiffany and Chuky was first revealed. It turns out that Glen somehow has a split personality and is having issues with his sexuality. Glen is kind yet coward and doesn't like violence at all while Glenda is more like his father. The film also spoofs other horror films from Psycho to The Shinning. Britney Spears was even killed by Chucky which is really not necessary to be included in this film at all. Interestingly, the film also feature Jennifer Tilly which happens to be the voice behind Tiffany from the Bride of Chucky.

"CHILD'S PLAY"

 

The film that started it all, the one that ruins our childhood and the one that changes the way we look at realistic-looking dolls! Child's Play is the first film from the franchise and the one that reveals how did Charles Lee Ray managed to get his soul into a Good Guy Doll. The series originally started out as straight horror with the first installment which appears to have more psychological horror elements. There is also less fatality yet the idea of having a killer doll made us jump out of our seats the first time this film was released.

"CURSE OF CHUCKY"

We all thought that Seed of Chucky put an end to the franchise after such a disappointing plot and negative feedbacks but Curse of Chucky proved us wrong. No, it will not focus on Glen which is a good thing and instead, it will take us back from the root of all this evilness. The story behind Charles Lee Ray past and the revealing why he is being chased on the first film is such a very creative idea. The story will take place Twenty-five years after the first film and four years after the fifth film, Chucky is delivered to the family home of Nica and Sarah Pierce, where Chucky terrorizes and kills the family one by one. It was really an engaging plot and the fact that they somehow eliminated the comedy and humor and made this film a full pledge horror is really a smart move. Tiffany and Andy Barclay also made a brief appearance in this film.

"CHILD'S PLAY 2"

There's really something in Child's Play 2 that makes it really remarkable. I personally think that this film outshines the first film in so many ways. First, Chucky was able to establish himself as a real scary killer doll and he let us know what exactly he is capable at. It has become more brutal but that's a good thing for a horror film and it has become more intense and terrifying at some point. The toy factory scenes were just epic and simply unforgettable. This film made people realize that Chucky will definitely go a long way!

"BRIDE OF CHUCKY"

I love Jennifer Tilly and I love Katherine Heigl so please excuse me for being bias for this one! However, regardless of who play the roles of Tiffany and Jade, Bride of Chucky remains one of the best installment from the franchise. Child's Play 3 was extremely horrible and it is not really surprising that it is not on my list but what do the directors and writers need to come up with a nice plot that will put Chucky back to the limelight after a disastrous film? Why not give him a bride? It was insanely brilliant that offers a drastic change to the franchise. The film surprisingly managed to blend the horror and comedy perfectly well!

Stephen King is undeniably one of the iconic writers of all time. He managed to publish 50 novels (including those masterpiece under the pen name Richard Bachman) and nearly 200 short stories.  Most of his works were adapted into movies (and comics too) and in fact he is considered as one of the most adapted authors in films along with other writers like Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Hans Christian Andersen, The Brothers Grimm and more. TOP 5 BEST STEPHEN KING MOVIE

"CARRIE"

I have watched the film several times and it's weird to say that I never get tired of it even though I know what's gonna happen if Carrie stand up on that stage. It's probably one of the most iconic Stephen King movies of all time and every scene is almost unforgettable even though the trailer actually made the film a little surprising. They said that Carrie's film adaptation is made way better than SK's book because it adds substance and style to it. Some of the best scenes in the movie includes the massacre in the gym hall where Carrie merely kills everyone. The moment where she kills her mom by telepathically moving kitchen knives is simply unforgettable. Oh and ending is quite a surprise too.

"THE SHINING"

"Here's comes Johnny!!" Well, who would forget that epic moment where Jack Torrence tried to kill his family. It is one iconic film indeed and the scene is being used in popular culture. The line also made it through our list of Top Five Most Remarkable Movie Lines. The film was highly embraced by critics praising Jack Nicholson for his very convincing performance as the psychopathic and evil possessed Jack Torrence. Stephen King, however is unhappy about Stanley Kubrick's film version as it made the main character less sympathetic and the ending was drastically changed as well.

"MISERY"

One of my personal favorites. I started admiring Kathy Bates after seeing her in this epic film adaptation of Stephen King's Misery. The story if about the writer Paul Sheldon who was saved by her ultimate fan Annie Wilkes. However, it turns out that Annie is more of a Psycho and a serial killer which made Sheldon's life a living hell. What I like about most Stephen King's movies is that they tend to scare not in a gory way. It makes you jump out of your chair due to some intense and suspense moments. One of the epic scene here is when Annie breaks Sheldon's ankles by smashing them with a mallet.. ouch!! Kathy Bates , by the way, won an Oscar from this film and it is a record breaking one because Oscars never paid attention to horror films but Bates gave a stunning performance that gave her an Oscar nod.

"THE GREEN MILE"

A Tom Hanks film directed by Frank Darabont and a derived from a Stephen king's novel? There's no doubt , this film is such a blast. I never thought that this film will make me cry and yeah I admitted that LOL. The characters were freaking awesome and they managed to deliver their roles very well and highly convincing. This is a three-hour film and I thought it will bore me to death but every single moment here is simply remarkable. The execution of John Coffey is such a heartbreaking scene and when Percy becomes mentally ill is such an overwhelming moment for me LOL.

"THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION"

What I like about this film is that it is very unpredictable (perhaps for me who haven't read the book yet). The character development is what I love the most. Remember when Prisoners was not really treated properly. They were treated very inhumanely until Andy started to make a move, changing the prison into an all new atmosphere where friendship and hope is possible. I also learned that Stephen King took Leo Tolstoy's "God Sees The Truth But Waits" as an inspiration that's why there are some sort of similarities. It happens to be one of my favorite short stories too (I remember myself playing Makar way back in high school). The revelation at the end of the film is such an epic moment that gives me goosebumps. Frank Darabont also directed this film along with other Stephen King movies like The Mists.

Sometimes, a movie doesn't need a high-profile or an A-liste actor to make it commercially successful. Sometimes, all they need is a smart and witty animal to star their show and make it a big hit. We have seen a lot of Animal-related movies and most of them make us laugh and be inspired at the same time. So today, allow me to list down five of the most renown animal protagonists in movies. "THE CHIPMUNKS"

Chipmunks originally started as an animated singing group. The group consists of three singing animated anthropomorphic chipmunks : Alvin, Simon and Theodore. One of their greatest hits as a singing group is the famous Christmas song known as the Chipmunks Song (Christmas Don't Be Late) and in fact it won a Grammy Award for Record of the Year. It was 1959 when the characters were adapted into their very first comic book and then their first Tv series entitled "The Alvin Show" (1961-62). It took two decades when they were once featured in another animated tv series known as the Alvin and the Chipmunk which run for seven years (1983 -1990) but what exactly took them back to the spotlight is their CGI Animated/Live action film series (2007-2010). In fact, a new installment is currently in production. Of course, aside from the Chipmunks, The Chippettes also deserve a credit.

Here comes another CGI Animated/Live action rodent who truly deserves a spot in this list. Stuart Little is generally a character based on the novel of the same name.  Stuart is basically an adopted son of Mr and Mrs Little and technically the younger brother of George (they are humans). Stuart is a friendly, innocent, shy, quiet, outgoing, well-mannered, brave, fun-loving, energetic, playful little mouse who is not afraid to be himself. He is very adventurous which place him sometimes in danger.  The film was well accepted by the critics and grew up to three major installments excluding an animated series. The character and the film was also adapted in different media franchises including video games. Other animal protagonists who deserves this spot includes Paulie (a parrot).

Willy is a male orca whale notably portrayed by Keiko The whale. The film Free Willy is well accepted by the critics and is undeniably commercially successful film series. It grew up to three different film series and one reboot. It was also adapted in an animated series. The first film in particular has become very iconic especially its famous climax which has been spoofed several times in popular culture. Due to its popularity, Warner Brothers put so much effort to find Keiko a better home and eventually led to the establishment of Free Willy-Keiko Foundation. Keiko , however, died in pneumonia but his character is indeed a legacy. Other characters who deserves a credit includes Flipper (flipper) who is also a whale.

Babe is more than just a commercially successful film but also a multiawarded film. Basically, it tells a story of a pig who wants to become a sheepdog. It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and the Saturn Award for Best Fantasy Film. The film also end up with another commercially successful sequel. Babe is indeed a very iconic pig in history!

Dogs are probably the most used animal protagonists in the movie but only few of them left a mark. Lassie is probably the most iconic of them all. Lassie is generally a collie dog who rescues two half-brothers who are lost and dying in the snow. It is very interesting to mention that Lassie first featured in an 1859 story and adapted into a novel-length in 1940 and then later into film in 1943. Since then, Lassie became a stage name. In 1954, the long-running, Emmy winning television series Lassie debuted, and, over the next 19 years, a succession of Pal(the dog who orginally played Lassie)'s descendants appeared on the series. The "Lassie" character has appeared in radio, television, film, toys, comic books, animated series, juvenile novels, and other media. Pal's descendants continue to play Lassie today. After the series ends in 1973, a second series was made (1980's) and then a Canadian Production launched another Lassie-inspired series. In 2005, a remake of the original Lassie Come Home movie was produced in the United Kingdom. Lassie continues to make personal appearances as well as marketing a line of pet food and a current pet care TV show, Lassie's Pet Vet on PBS stations in the United States. TOP FIVE MOST ICONIC ACTORS WHO PLAYED THE ROLE OF SUPERMAN

Man of Steel is about to hit the theaters this coming June, seven years after the Superman Returns in 2006. The film , however, is not a sequel but a reboot starring Henry Cavill (he is known for his iconic role as Charles Brandon in the tv series, The Tudors) who will play as Superman/ Clark Kent. The film has a stellar cast to including Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, and Russel Crowe as Jor-El. Based on the movie trailer and considering the fact that the story was written David Goyer, I have a strong feeling that this film will be very much identical with "The Dark Knight Rises" which is known for its darker theme. Anyway, we've seen the trailer and we know that there will be some major changes to our favorite DC superhero (his outfit in particular). Superman debuted in comics since 1938, had a radio series in 1940s, debuted in film in 1948 and had his first tv series in 1952 and the rest are history.  It's been 65 years since the character was adapted in both Tv and films and the iconic role was already portrayed by numerous actors. Adventures of Superman is the very first television series to feature Superman and George Reeves is the very first actor who conquer the television through his iconic role. Interestingly, they said that George Reeves was initially reluctant to take the role because, like many actors of his time, he considered television unimportant and believed few would see his work. In fact, he received a low pay salary for this project. He debuted his role as a Superman in a short length film entitled Superman and the Mole Man which served as the pilot story for his upcoming Tv series. The series went on the air the following year, and Reeves was amazed at becoming a national celebrity. In 1957, the struggling ABC Network purchased the show for national broadcast, which gave him greater visibility. Reeves interestingly took his role model status seriously, avoiding cigarettes where children could see him and eventually quitting smoking. He kept his private life discreet.

He is the most recent Superman before Henry Cavill took his place. Did you know that before he got the iconic role of Superman, a lot of A list actors were considered for the role including Keanu Reeves, Ashton Kutcher, Josh Harnett, Nicolas Cage and even Henry Cavill. They said that Routh had a very remarkable videotaped audition for the role and the directors were very impressed by his resemblance to the comic book icon. He has a great ressemblance of Christopher Reeves which makes the directors more eager to hire him for the said iconic role. Featuring an unknown actor to take the role of an iconic superhero in the big screen is such a risky decision indeed but the film was highly acclaimed by the critics but unfortunately, it didn't go well with the box office. Nevertheless, Routh gave an impressive performance and gave justice to the role.

A superman role without his iconic superman suit? Is that even possible? Well, Tom Welling proved it well in his highly acclaimed Tv series. Tom Welling never wore the entire Superman suit in the 10 successful seasons of Smallville except for the finale episodes where he barely showed off the iconic red and blue superhero suit. This is very understandble because we know the fact that Smallville showcased events that occured years before Clark Kent become Superman. For the entire 10 seasons, the series followed this "No thights, flight" policies which makes the viewers more excited to see how his character transformed. It was an impressive approach indeed and I am not surprised why this show was generally embraced by many viewers and managed to set a record for being the longest running comic book-based series in television history

Sorry for being bias here but for a guy who grew up in 90's I really want to put Dean Cain on top of anyone else. I'm such a big fan of this show and for me, Dean Cain's portrayal is probably the jolliest Superman ever.In 1993, Cain took on his biggest role to date as Superman in the television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. At the height of its popularity, it would bring in an average of at least 15 million viewers per episode.  The series however ended with a unsatisfying cliffhanger. Interestingly, Dean Cain also appeared to reprise his role in Smallville.

Well, he was 6 feet, 4 inches tall, he was a talented all-around athlete in real life, he got the iconic Superman blue eyes and handsome features. However, apart from the impressive physical features mentioned above, Reeve is quite a slim guy which makes him more distinctive above the rest who portrayed the role. In fact, he never wear fake muscles and undergo a strict diet instead. Unlike the other Superman, Christopher Reeve managed to differentiate his two roles not just by wearing a pair or bulky eyeglasses but he made huge differences between the two. Since then, Superman has become his signature role , making him as a standard for all actors who recently played Superman. 

So is Henry Cavill suitable enough to be included in this list? Well, we're about to find out.

TOP FIVE BEST LEAGUES OF SUPERHEROES

It's February and time is really running so fast! This is going to be my first entry for this month and second after my "come back". So far, I love my progress and I manage to update my blogs and do my daily blog visiting routine at the same time. Lemme grab this opportunity as well to thank you guys who supported by Entry "Start the Year Right with Sulit.com.ph, Start it With a Blast". Moving back to my new Top Five Entry, I'm going to list down five of the best groups of Superheroes from comics. We only have few leagues of superheroes in both DC or Marvel Universe so I guess this list is somehow predictable.So let's start shall we?

TOP 5 BEST LEAGUE OF SUPERHEROES

"WATCHMEN"

I really had a hard time to tell which group of Superheroes deserves the fifth spot. I was  actually thinking of four groups including Teen Titans, Fantastic Four , and The Exiles but I came up with a decision to place the Watchmen instead. Fantastic Four, at some point became a member of the Avengers, The Exiles was a part of X-men while Teen Titans had some cross overs with Justice League so I guess, it is pretty much okay to put them here to offer some variety. Watchmen is set in an alternate reality which closely mirrors the contemporary world of the 1980s. The primary difference is the presence of superheroes. Their existence in this version of America is shown to have dramatically affected and altered the outcomes of real-world events. Interestingly, even the fact that they called themselves "Superheroes", Doctor Manhattan is the only member who possesses super powers.

TOP 4 BEST LEAGUE OF SUPERHEROES

"THE LEGION"

I'm sure you have heard about Braniac, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy right? Well, they are few of the most notable characters from this team. The Legion of Superheroes came from an old superhero comics with a very futuristic approach. The story occurs during the 30th and 31st century. In fact, they are known as the predecessors of famous superheroes from Justice League. Most of them are the off springs of the might superheroes who decided to continue their parents legacies. I find it very fascinating that most of their superhero names always end up with Boy or Girl. 

Primary Members: Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, Lighting Lad, Triplicate Girl, Phase, Superboy, Chamelion, Invisible Kid, Kid Quantum, Brainiac 5, Supergirl, and Karate Kid

"X-MEN"

When you say Mutant, the first group that will come up to your mind is nothing more but X-men. I guess the term mutants was immortalized by this team. X-men is a group of  individuals that possesses unusual skills. They are carrying the so called "X-genes" which gives them their abilities. They were all recruited by Professor Xavier (Professor X). Due the huge impact of the series, it has been adapted into several media franchises such as films, animated series, video games and more. 

Primary Members: Professor X, Cyclops, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Storm, Rouge, Iceman, Beast, Angel, and more. 

TOP 2 BEST LEAGUE OF SUPERHEROES

"JUSTICE LEAGUE"

DC's most notable league of Superhero! Nothing can be more fascinating than the combination of world's famous superheroes like Superman, Batman and Wonder woman. Each of them managed to create their own reputation and if there is one word to describe this team, it would be "grandest". The initial Justice League lineup included seven of the DC superheroes being published regularly at that time: Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman. Several adaptations have been made including various spin offs, animated series, and hopefully a live action film. 

Primary Members: Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder woman. 

THE BEST LEAGUE OF SUPERHEROES

"THE AVENGERS"

I guess this team needs no more introduction. They are the Earth's Mightiest Heroes indeed and even before the successful film adaptation last year, we already know them all. This is most likely the answer of Marvel to  DC's Justice League. The Avengers originally consisted of Iron Man (Tony Stark), Ant-Man (Dr. Henry Pym), Wasp (Janet Van Dyne), Thor, and Hulk (Bruce Banner). Interestingly, it was The Wasp who named their team as The Avengers simply because it only sounded "dramatic". The team eventually grew and recruited several members even those former villains like Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Although some notable members left the team for various reasons. Now, i am hoping that the upcoming sequel will add more of their popular members who deserve a role such as Dr Henry Pym, Wasp, and Vision. Oh! and Black Panther too ^_^
