TOP FIVE BEST GLEE PERFORMANCES OF CORY MONTEITH

As a big fan of Glee, or well at least the first two seasons of it, Cory Monteith's death came to me by surprise. Cory Monteith or better known as Finn Hudson is one of the major characters in the said series, the quarterback who has an incredible singing talent and also the love interest of Rachel Berry played by Lea Michelle who happened to be her off-screen partner. The reason behind his sudden death is very devastating and it's just sad to see people dying at a very young age because of drug and alcohol abuse. Anyway, Cory Monteith will always be remembered especially those remarkable performances that he delivered on the show. Listed below are five of my personal favorite from Glee.

TOP FIVE BEST GLEE PERFORMANCES OF CORY MONTEITH

TOP 5 BEST GLEE PERFORMANCES OF CORY MONTEITH
"JUST THE WAY YOU ARE"
Just the Way You Are (original by Bruno Mars), was performed by Finn during the "Furt" episode alongside with another Bruno Mars song. In this episode, Finn's mother was married to Kurt's father and this song was sung by Finn to Kurt during the wedding's reception. The performance was characterized as brilliant and touching by the The Wall Street Journey and i couldn't agree more. I actually grew up tired of this song as i keep on hearing it over the radio almost everyday but Finn's version makes the message of this song more meaningful and that is all about acceptance.

"LOSING MY RELIGION"
Losing my Religion is another powerful performance from Finn. It was his first solo performance during the Second season entitled "Grilled Cheesus". The song was originally performed by an 80's band R.E.M. Interestingly, the song arrangement was originally plotted by Monteith. The producer is actually trying to make this song positive and upbeat but since it was about betreyal, Monteith wanted to express the feeling of both betrayal and anger on the song and he gave it a perfect justice and earned some praises from notable critics.

"JESSIE'S GIRL"
Jessie's Girl is originally performed by Rick Springfield and was impressively nailed by Finn during the "laryngitis" episode of season 1. I am actually not familiar with the song at first until i heard from Glee. The song performance was considered commercially successful which charted in the top ten in Canada , Ireland and Australia in which it was a certified gold. The performance was simple impressive.

"DON'T STOP BELIEVIN"
The song that brought the show into the limelight. It is probably one of the most iconic performances of the show which is originally performed by the Journey. It is one of the greatest cover ever done in this show. It is actually a group performance by Finn and Rachel's voice are more dominant. The song was characterized as elevating and inspirational by most of its critics. The song in general gave a new approach to this song, transforming a rock ballad into an impressive theatrical performance. Did you know that this is also the last song performance where Finn Hudson is being featured before he died?

"CAN'T FIGHT THIS FEELING"
Can't Fight This Feeling is actually Monteith, audition piece which helped him a lot to get his iconic role in Glee. It is also the song that allows him to be discovered by Will Schuester (remember the bathroom scene). Monteith initially submitted a tape of himself drumming with pencils and tupperware but the show requires him to sing and so he sang Can't Fight this Feeling which is originally performed by REO Speedwagon. Interestingly, unlike the rest of the show's cast members, Monteith has no theatrical experience.

TOP FIVE BEST SEGMENTS AND SKETCHES OF BUBBLE GANG

Remember Bel Tiongco of Rampage? How about Mr Assimo and how about Bonggang Bonggang Bongbong? Remember the Sexball Dancers? Or how about the Muchas Grasas family? Bubble Gang is probably one of the most successful gag shows in Philippine TV. It is currently the longest running gag show in the Philippines which was first aired on October 1995. The show is known for their parodies (political, religion and current events), funny skits and sketches, commercial spoofs. Few of its original casts include Ogie Alcasid, Michael V, Wendell Ramos, Antonio Aquitania,Aiko Melendez and Assunta De Rossi. Some of them already left the show but replaced by new batch of comedians including Rufa Mae Quinto, Diana Zubiri, Ara Mina, Boy 2 Quizon, Maureen Larazabal and more. I am a big fan of this show so today I listed down five of my favorite or possibly the Best segments of Bubble Gang
TOP FIVE BEST SEGMENTS AND SKETCHES OF BUBBLE GANG

TOP 5 BEST SEGMENTS AND SKETCHES OF BUBBLE GANG
"CHE CHE BURECHE"
Che Che Bureche is a comic sketch starring Ogie Alcasid as Che Che and Michael V as Bureche. Cheche and Bureche were twin sisters who lived by their father played by Antonio Aquitana. Cheche is usually the kind one while Bureche is some sort of a bully who is always fooling her sister Cheche. Whenever their father leaves for work, Bureche will start to bully her sister. She terrorize Cheche with her vile antics, but usually becomes the victim of her own schemes.  Bureche will always pretend as the abused one but Cheche is the one who's always getting the attention.

"ANG DATING DOON"
Ang Dating Doon is probably the shows' most successful segment which started on 1998. It features Isko Moreno as Brod Pete, Cesar Cosme as Bro. Willy and Chito Francisco as Bro. Joel. It is basically a parody of a popular religious program "Ang Dating Daan" but they used to interpret fairy tales, children's literature and song lyrics instead of religious scriptures. They make use of the anime song of Voltes V as their opening and closing song. The segment will begin when an audience will start to ask question to Brod Pete and he will interpret it in return using nursery rhymes, song lyrics and children's literature. Because of its popularity, their characters became their nicknames. They are sometimes referred to, or credited as Isko "Brod Pete" Salvador, Cesar "Brother Willy" Cosme and Chito "Brother Jocel" Francisco. After the segment ended on 1999, it was briefly revived on 2001-2005 where the exclamations like Alien! and Raise the Roof! became popular. The segment was again revived last 2011 up to present.

"PICK UP LINES"
Pick Up Lines is another highly influential segment of Bubble Gang which introduces the famous character of Boy Pick Up (portrayed by Ogie Alcasid) and Neneng B (played by Sam Pinto). The Pickup Line Battle is composed of a preliminary round wherein two contestants will try to impress the woman moderator named Neneng Bakit, or simply Neneng B. using their pickup lines. The winner of the match will be determined by audience impact, and moves on to face the "undefeated" Pickup Liner named Boy Pickup.  In the end, Boy Pickup, who sometimes show up his trademark Zippo lighter, will remain undefeated, despite the fact that his pickup lines are so deep only a selected few can understand its true meaning including Boy Back Up who will cheer loudly at the back. The skit was also adapted into movie entitled Boy Pick Up the Movie.

TOP 2 BEST SEGMENTS AND SKETCHES OF BUBBLE GANG
"YOURS TRULY: JUNIE LEE"
Yours Truly: Junie Lee is personally one of my favorite segments from Bubble Gang. The segment was first aired on 2002 to 2004. Junie Lee is one of Michael V's iconic fictional characters along with Bebang and Mr Assimo. It is basically patterned like a talk show in which Junie is the main host and his mission is to interview different celebrity. Junie Lee has this weird mannerism which makes the character more laughable. He used to stutter during the interview and is always running out of questions. Most of the questions are based on real celebrity intrigues but it is being asked the funny way.

THE BEST SEGMENTS AND SKETCHES OF BUBBLE GANG
"ANG SPOILED"
Ang Spoiled is a segment about a brute kid Angelina (played by Ogie Alcasid) and her Yaya (played by Michael V). Her orders always bring her nanny to worst. Angelina's notable quotes are "Yaya, you're such a loser!", "Big Deal" and "Whatever" in which she has her own finger gestures. Sketches show Angelina and her yaya in many places, such as in the mall,in school and somewhere else, but most sketches show them both in Angelina's house, notably inside her room. The segment has become extremely popular and most Filipino adapted those famous Angelina's quotes and gestures. It was also adapted into film entitled Yaya & Angelina : The Spoiled Brat Movie.

**********
I excluded those parodies , gags, and commercial spoofs which the show is more notable at. Other famous segments includes Rampage: Gulat ni Mel Tiongco (played by Rufa Mae Quinto), Muchas Grasas, Marilawin, Sumbong Sumbong Kay Bonggang Bonggang BongBong,  Moy Moy Palaboy , Iyo Tube, Remember When (parody of Maalaala Mo Kaya), 4 Oras, GNA Splash Report and more.
