TOP 5 MOST POPULAR HAREM ANIME
"TENCHI MUYO!"
Tenchi Muyo is the oldest anime that I included here on my list although I am actually confused if I should include this one or the Saber Marionette series but if we will base the series on its popularity and longevity, I think Tenchi Muyo! is more deserving but Saber Marionette is worthy enough to be mentioned. Tenchi Muyo debuted on 1995 and was adapted in many media franchise including films, animes, and mangas. Several spin off were also made, extending the anime til 2010. The plot of Tenchi Muyo! is somehow confusing because each series has different continuities but the original story is about Tenchi Masaki who accidentally releases an alien space pirate that draws the attention of other space faring individuals. It was later revealed that he is part of the powerful Juraian race, and a member of their royal family. Since then, Tenchi's life was changed and he eventually met several female characters including Ryoko (a space pirate), Ayeka and Sasami (princesses of Jurai family), Mihoshi (space detective) and a whole lot more. Tenchi suffers a great deal of stress as he tries his hardest to be a gentleman while most of the women within the household will take the opportunity to display their attraction for him. This anime is basically a mixture of romance, comedy, and sci-fi.

"LOVE HINA"
Love Hina is one of my favorite Harem anime because it has a very sweet plot and also because of its sexy characters.The series tells the story of Keitaro Urashima and his attempts to find the girl with whom he made a childhood promise to enter Tokyo University. However, he has forgotten the name of the girl he made the promise to and hopes to be accepted into Tokyo University in order to find her. After failing the entrance exam twice and his parents no longer willing to support him, he goes to stay at his grandmother's hotel, only to find that it has been converted to a female-only apartments. He is about to be kicked out by the girls, when his aunt announced that his grandmother has given him the titles of the apartments, and he stays on as the manager of the family-owned girls' dorm Hinata House. Little does he know that one of the girls on that apartment is the girl that he has been looking for.

"SHUFFLE!"
Shuffle! is a very interesting anime because it was originated as an adult virtual novel for Microsoft Windows and was later made as a Playstation game. It was adapted into Manga in 2003 and in Anime in 2005. The story takes place in a fictional universe where humans live in harmony with gods, resembling humans with slightly pointed ears, and devils, who have more prominently pointed ears. Despite their respective positive and negative connotations, both races are equally kind and good-natured. It generally follows a story of Rin Tsuchimi (the male protagonist) and his daily life interaction with the female characters including Kaede (his childhood friend), Asa, Primula, Lisianthus, and Nerine.

"AH! MY GODDESS"
Another one of my favorite series. Ah! My Goddess tells a story of a high school student Keiichi Morisato who accidentally calls the Goddess Technical Help Line and a beautiful goddess named Belldandy materializes in his room. She tells him that her agency has received a system request from him, so she has been sent to grant him a single wish. Skeptical and thinking someone is playing a practical joke on him, he wishes that she stay with him forever. Apart from Belldandy, Keiichi also met two powerful goddesses including Urd and Skuld. Belldandy eventually fell in love with Keiichi .

"CLANNAD"
Just like Shuffle, Clannad also originated as a visual novel and a game for PC. It was later adapted into Manga in 2005, in Film on 2006 and in Anime in 2007. The story follows the life of Tomoya Okazaki, a high school delinquent who meets many people in his last year at school, including five girls, and helps resolve their individual problems. Interestingly, before being adapted in Manga and in Anime, Clannad is considered as one of the best selling PC games sold in Japan.The animated adaptations have received high sales figures in Japan as well as critical acclaim abroad.Tomoya meets by chance Nagisa Furukawa, a soft-spoken girl one year older than he is who is repeating her last year in high school due to being sick much of the previous year. Her goal is to join the drama club which she was unable to do due to her sickness, but they find that the drama club was disbanded after the few remaining members graduated. Since Tomoya has a lot of time to kill, he starts to help Nagisa in reforming the drama club. During this period, Tomoya meets and hangs out with several other girls who he gets to know well and help with their individual problems. Clannad is not focussing much on romance and in fact it has a very emotional and sad plot line too.
